I’d like to thank all those that contacted me to donate their entry fee to the Children’s Center for Therapy. Turns out I’ll be taking a check for about $700 to them this week, the race was originally scheduled for today, until it was discovered to be Easter, let’s hope Easter comes later, and we can enjoy a week later Kent Park next year.

Canceled

I’m canceling this year’s Kent Park Classic. It looks like some snow cover is inevitable tonight through the morning, any amount of snow on this course is unacceptable to myself and the park. Canceling tonight will give enough warning to those who need to travel to the race.

Thanks to all who registered, hopefully, Easter will be later next year and not push us back a week. Thanks to those who were providing the baked goods and beer, I don’t know what you could possibly do with those now.

It’s not easy for a promoter to cancel a race, but it’s even harder to think about a race going bad.

If you would like to donate your entry fee to the Children’s Center please e-mail me sometime this week or so, I’ll be destroying all other checks in some permanent fashion if I don’t hear otherwise. Thanks to those who have already donated, it’s very kind and appreciated.

Keep an eye out

Snow on the ground tonight will cancel the race. With such an early start time it’s hard to cancel before people start traveling to the event. If you see snow on the ground it’s going to be over, I’ll be keeping an eye out and try to cancel as soon as it seems inevitable. It does not look good right now.

Due to Easter, we are a week early this year, and with park rules there will be no rescheduling, entry fee checks will be torn up, unless I hear from you, then I will donate it to the Children’s Center for Therapy.

Last time the race was canceled, we still raised over $300 for their social skills program, your donations do count so thank you. Here is the normal break down of your entry fee for those interested in where your money goes.

$15 Entry fee

-$3 to USCF for insurance
-$1 to IBRA
-$1 or less for race permit ($35), website($10) and Numbers/Pins ($40)

$10 per entry to Children’s Center for Therapy.

If you choose to donate your entry fee this year, send me an e-mail, $14 will go to the Children’s Center and some will be saved to pay for next year’s permit.

Attn Riders

If you are not on the current list but sent in a form/check, and are not an Atlas rider, let me know right away and I’ll make sure nothing happened. Remember, you will need a current license to ride, or get a one day for $10 the day off. Race starts at 9:00, don’t get there before 7:00, they don’t like you lining up outside the gate if you can help it.
